Welcome to 2014

I didn’t bring the new year in with a bang, I enjoyed the night with my husband watching a movie and going to bed before midnight. I then worked on New Years Day.
While at work I was giving thought to the year that was and the year ahead.
2013 was a huge year for me. I helped nurse my mother back to health after a massive brain injury. We sold up everything we own and left our jobs to travel across the country. We ended up back in my home town, welcomed two new grandies into the family, I started a new job and Graeme had his total shoulder replacement. We met some amazing people, experienced many new things and opened ourselves up to more possibilities. We have grown through it all and we are looking forward to many more adventures – just with a different mindset.

For 2014 our main focus is on ourselves. Our health, our relationship with others and our goals.

Some of my goals for 2014 are (in no particular order):

Lose enough weight and feel healthy so that I can do Yoga again.
I simply don’t feel comfortable or flexible enough to enjoy Yoga while overweight. I feel self conscious at Yoga – almost out of place. Despite the many people who declare that weight should have nothing to do with it, for me, it does. Yoga for me isn’t about fitness or popularity. it’s about feeling at one with spirit and feeling peace. Being overweight inhibits the poses I can do and also inhibits my mind. So this year I would like to focus on healthiness, not simply losing weight.

Save money

We have goals that are based around where we would like to eventually live and how. So we aim to regularly save money towards that. We already stick to a budget (thanks to You Need A Budget) and we have learnt in the last few years that material possessions are not important. We also know how to do cheap or free entertainment. So 2014 will see us being frugal and free.

Donate my time

For me, human rights is the very core of Spirit. I intend to spend time on improving the lives of others.

Enjoy personal and deep relationships

Spending my time (or our time because this is Graeme’s goal too) on people who actually want to spend time with us and to cherish those who are willing to share themselves with us on a deeper level.
